What can restorative dentistry in Ontario, CA do for your smile? Options to repair, replace teeth

We at Ontario Dental Center have a wide range of options to keep you and yours smiling confidently and comfortably. The most conservative “treatment” is no treatment at all. Dr. Mukesh Patel recommends a schedule of professional cleanings and examinations that are personalized to your oral health needs. He evaluates your teeth and gums to identify minor issues before they progress to major damage, such as decay and periodontal disease; however, restorative dentistry in Ontario, CA at our office is appropriate should you sustain damage that can’t be resolved with adjustments to oral hygiene and oral care products alone.

The goal of any restorative treatment is to renew the appearance and function of the affected tooth. Advanced and quality dental materials available at Ontario Dental Center may restore a portion of a decayed, fractured, or otherwise damaged tooth, or they may restore the entire tooth.

  • Materials such as composite resin and dental ceramics are prepared and shaped to recreate natural tooth structure where areas of decay or damage are removed. The prepared toothlike material is then applied and fixed to the natural, underlying, and surrounding tooth structure. These restorations may rebuild teeth marred by cavities, cracks, inflammation, infection, and other trauma. Sufficient healthy tooth structure must exist for the dental material to adhere to and for it to adequately support the restored tooth. Options to repair damaged areas include fillings, inlays, partial crowns (onlays), and full dental crowns. Depending on the extent of the damage to your teeth, root canal therapy may precede the placement of a crown.
  • Dental ceramics and other materials may also be used to rebuild the entire part of the tooth that is seen above the gums and, in some cases, a portion of the tooth that you can’t see in the jaw (the tooth root). Tooth replacement options available at Dr. Patel’s office include dental bridges and partial and complete dentures. Dental implants can be placed in the jawbone to support a single crown, a dental bridge, and dentures. To preserve your health, vital function, and appearance, it’s important to replace missing teeth promptly.

There are many factors to consider when selecting the best way to rebuild your natural tooth or to replace a must be extracted tooth because of decay, disease, or other trauma. Dr. Patel looks forward to helping you make a well-informed decision.
