Straight talk about clear aligners; Invisalign is an alternative to conventional braces in Ontario, CA
Older and younger patients alike are straightening their teeth comfortably and discreetly with clear braces in Ontario, CA at the office of Dr. Mukesh Patel.
Straight talk about Invisalign
Technically, the treatment that the Ontario Dental Center uses to correct misalignment and the bad bite is not a braces system. Instead, patients who are treated with Invisalign wear a series of oral appliances or aligners. These aligners gently and incrementally guide teeth into their proper positions. Alternately, patients with traditional braces wear brackets and wires that are “fixed” to teeth. These components place controlled pressure on the teeth, which gradually shifts them into correct alignment. In order for treatment to progress, braces must be adjusted by a dentist or orthodontist regularly. With Invisalign, there are no wires to be tightened or metal hardware to contend with while brushing and flossing. Just wear each set of aligners as directed by Dr. Patel and see the gradual transformation in your smile!
What to expect
If Dr. Patel finds that Invisalign is right for you (as it has been for more than 8 million patients worldwide), the information that he collects about your mouth is used to create a three-dimensional model of your teeth. Using Align Technology’s sophisticated software, he can pull up this virtual model of your mouth on a monitor and can show you exactly how your teeth will be repositioned throughout treatment. It’s a great way for you to “try before you buy,” as you can see the lovely results before the first aligner is worn.
This software is also used to guide the fabrication of each aligner. Made from smooth, transparent, BPA-free plastic, each aligner is associated with a different stage of treatment. So, you must wear each appliance in the correct order. After around two weeks, you will begin to wear the next aligner in the series. The number of aligners worn throughout treatment depends on your needs; for more extensive bite-related issues, a greater number of aligner trays are required.
Each aligner tray may be removed only for brushing and flossing and before meals. Failure to wear as directed can delay and affect the results from Invisalign treatment. Dr. Patel checks that treatment is progressing as it should and provides additional aligners as needed during visits, scheduled around every six weeks or so.
