Keep Your Teeth Healthy: Dental Hygiene Tips in Ontario CA

Did you know you may be brushing or flossing your teeth wrong? How could that be? While you may not be brushing or flossing your teeth wrong, you could be doing it better. At Ontario Dental Center, the dental hygienists and Dr. Mukesh Patel will ensure that you are doing your oral hygiene care properly.

It is not unusual for them to ask you to demonstrate how you brush and floss your teeth. That allows them to provide some dental hygiene tips to help you brush and floss even better. They will demonstrate proper oral hygiene care to their patients and not just the young ones. Even the young at heart get lessons.

Brush Those Pearly Whites

Many people believe if you brush your teeth two or three times a day and floss before bed, you have excellent oral hygiene care. That’s not necessarily true.

Brushing your teeth is an art form. You must brush every tooth and make sure your toothbrush meets your gums, and they also get brushed.

Flossing Like a Pro

Proper flossing requires you to floss in between each tooth. A hit-and-miss floss job when you’re in a hurry is useless. You might as well not bother because in this case, a bad job is better than not at all and is not valid. Flossing not only removes food and plaque from those hard-to-reach places your toothbrush can’t reach, but it also releases plaque and food from the gums that could cause an infection or lead to gum disease.

Mouthwash — Not Just for a Minty Fresh Breath

What about mouthwash? It’s not just to give you fresh breath. Rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash after you brush and floss is the finishing touch to removing plaque and bacteria in your mouth that could cause a problem to your teeth.

Ever notice when you go to the dentist for a cleaning, they give you a new toothbrush? That’s not just a gift for showing up to your appointment — it’s because you should replace your toothbrush at least every six months. If you have been ill, you should change it when you are well again. Your dental hygiene tools need to be kept clean, as well as your teeth. So, your smile can remain beautiful!

Ontario Dental Center of Ontario has various options available for residents of Ontario regarding oral hygiene care. Call Ontario Dental Center today at (909) 414-3535 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Mukesh Patel.
